IF YOU LEAVE THIS PAGE KNOWING ONE THING,
IT SHOULD BE THIS:
My clients (let's call them "my people") are non-traditional, creative types looking for their love to be documented in a way that's true to their story and still makes them smile when they're 40 years into this adventure called marriage.
Like I said, I love working with unconventional couples. I think it's because I like doing things a little differently myself. So instead of going on talking about me, I'm going to give you my best advice for finding your perfect wedding photographer. Ready?
FIND SOMEONE YOU TRUST.
Find someone whose work makes your heart leap every time you refresh their website or Instagram feed (let's be real, we're all stalkers to some degree!).
That means you trust their style.
Find someone who you'd be willing to sit precariously perched on the edge of a mountain for a single shot if they told you to.
That means you trust their vision.
Find someone whose words you connect with online.
That means you trust their voice and beliefs.
Find the person you want behind the camera at your wedding because at the end of it all, you'll have your spouse, the memories, and those photos.
I'm so grateful to the couples who have entrusted me to capture their stories. If my work inspires you in some way, I'd love to chat!

YOUR LEGACY
Have you ever seen an old photograph of a wedding couple from decades ago — maybe of your grandparents or great-grandparents—and it’s just absolutely iconic? It’s crazy to imagine them ever being that young, and yet there they are, a whole vibe in their wedding attire and rocking that hairstyle. It makes you see them in a whole new light; they were once just like you.
It’s hard to imagine, but decades from now, someone is going to come across one of these photos of you. The photo may make them miss you, laugh, tear up, ask you more about what your wedding was like, and it will most certainly be used in a family tree school project somewhere along the line. These photos are for you to relive your best day, they’re for your family and friends to share in the memories, and they’re for the generations to come to remember you by. These photos are your legacy.

WEDDING ALBUMS
The best way to share your photos for years to come
This is how we bring all that legacy talk to life. Technology changes so rapidly, I can guarantee however you currently save images digitally will not be accessible in the future.
A printed photo album is how your children, grandchildren, and future generations will be able to see the photos of the day that brought their family together—the day that made them a family in the first place.

Frequently Asked Questions

I currently live in the Sheridan, WY area! My home base is a little mountain town in northern Wyoming named Story. Cute, right?! It’s right in between Sheridan and Buffalo.
I’m originally from Nebraska (GBR) and spend a lot of time shooting & hanging out there as well.
-
Oh yeah! I'm based in Sheridan, Wyoming but am completely enamored with travel and find it very inspirational & influential in my work.

I love being able to photograph adventurous couples & intimate, meaningful wedding days. I know we’re a good match when a couple is down to explore and not afraid to get a little dirt on their shoes; when they prioritize the marriage, not the wedding; and when they want photos of real moments, not just perfectly posed shots.
SHOOTING STYLE / I take a creative, journalistic approach to my photos. I strive to capture a wedding day exactly as it unfolds. To me, the photographs should snap you right back to that moment, not remind you of the 10 minutes it took to primp and prep to get the perfect shot that had no real meaning. I like to look for those little in-between moments of both you and your guests that make the day so special. Have no fear, (in case your mom is asking) we will still get those family photos!
EDITING STYLE / I try to keep my edits true to real life, but with a touch of warmth. I want your images to be a representation of how the day actually looked and felt.

I specialize in intimate and micro weddings in the mountains of Wyoming. I’m based near Sheridan, WY so the Bighorn Mountains are right in my backyard and are one of my favorite places to photograph wedding ceremonies and celebrations! However, I LOVE to travel and do take a limited number of destination and travel weddings each year!
I travel multiple times a year to both Jackson Hole to photograph weddings in the Tetons, and Nebraska which is where I’m originally from.
I serve couples in Sheridan and surrounding areas (Buffalo, Story, Big Horn, Casper, Billings), as well as across the states of Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana, Colorado, and worldwide.

The first wedding I photographed on my own was in 2013… whaaaa, time is flying! I had been a second shooter for other photographers for a couple of years before that.
When I began dabbling in photography, I shot everything: first birthdays, newborns, families, couples, seniors, corporate events, you name it. I wanted to try everything out to see what I was drawn to most, and that ended up being couples. There’s just something about getting to photograph two people who are in love and capturing that connection. Gahh I just can’t get enough!

PRE-SHOOT / Before your shoot or wedding, I want to be a resource for my couples to reach out to. I’ve shot so many weddings and sessions that I know exactly what to expect… you, on the other hand, are probably doing this for the first time. I’m here to walk you through! I assist with wedding day timeline creation, location scouting, outfit recommendations, vendor recommendations, can be a sounding board for your ideas, and help you out in any way I can.
WHILE SHOOTING / Everyone tells me how awkward they are in front of the camera, so trust me when I say you’re not the only one who feels that way! During engagement sessions, I get a read on how you interact as a couple and interject and direct as needed. I tend to not pose people, but rather direct them, giving actions and prompts that create real interactions and emotions. On a wedding day, I like to observe and photograph things as they unfold, but give input when needed. I like to think I'm pretty good at reading the room – I don't typically just blend into the wall but I'm also not overbearing on a wedding day. I am not afraid to move furniture around or tell people where to go and where to stand, but I also want to sit back and photograph your real interactions as they unfold. Throughout the day, I'm usually the one keeping track of the timeline and making sure you are where you need to be at the right time. During your ceremony, I try to become invisible and sneak around in silence as to not distract from the ceremony. I also want to have a good time and get to know your friends and family!
Here's what one of my past brides Kelsey said about me on her wedding day: "Kaylie is so easy going and does everything in her power to make your day special. And she is ALL OVER THE PLACE on your wedding day! And I mean that in a good way! She is there every second of your day and catches every moment. On our wedding day, I would be taking a selfie with my friends and she would make sure to catch the photo as well. She didn't miss anything!"
